Adventure Travel in Costa Rica

For not much money at all, you can visit a tropical paradise. I made the trek almost a year ago and the nostalgia is setting in hard right now. The purpose of this blog, much like many others,  is to give you some ideas on what to do if you visit Costa Rica.

Hummingbird seen in Costa Rica.

Humming Bird Searching for Food!

Take wildlife, for example.  While in Monteverde, a high-altitude spot in northwest Cosa Rica, I was able to hike a cloud forest and see a wide variety of birds. Including many different types of hummingbirds!

Beautiful View of the Waterfall.

Great View of the Waterfall!

Monteverde provided some good action.  Zip-lining was available and rappelling down waterfalls not unlike the picture below was something I took part in (although the waterfall I did was much larger!)

View of the volcano I hiked to.

Beautiful View of the Volcano!

La Fortuna and Arenal are areas to check out, as well.  Again, these are based near the northwest of the country.

Horseback riding to waterfall.
My Horse Was in A Bad Mood :(

I used horse riding to get to the La Fortuna waterfall, which was spectacular to see. One of the few times I had ridden and the thing had a mind of its
own.

Stream Running Through the Baldi Resort.
Picture of Hot Springs at Baldi Resort!

If you’re willing to fork out some money, you enjoy the hot springs at a place like Baldi. After a long day zip-lining and riding horses, the resort was worth every penny.

I went to the Puerto Viejo Beach.
Beach Time at Puerto Viejo!

And of course, going to the coast to try some surfing and to enjoy the beach is a must.  In my case, I went to Puerto Viejo for some fun in the sun!

Right before going surfing I took a picture.
Pumped to Go Surfing!

This is a picture of me about to surf.  I did it twice and my instructor could not have been better.  The waves were robust both days in my case.

Believe it or not, there’s more you can do and more that I did do in Costa Rica.  I’ll be in touch with more over the next few days. It’s worth noting, the ideas above are not exhaustive but can give you a start in how to think about planning a trip in this wonderful country.
